Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026. The City of Miami Beach observes both Thanksgiving Day and the day after, so city offices are closed for a four-day weekend. Miami Beach has no city-run Thanksgiving festival or parade; the weekend’s free events are a movie the night before and the regular Sunday market and museum family day.

City offices. The city’s observed holidays list includes “Thanksgiving Day (and the day after).” The same list tells drivers that residential-zone and other parking signs marked “INCLUDING HOLIDAYS” are enforced on those days, so check the sign before you leave a car on the street for family visits.

Libraries. The Miami-Dade Public Library System, which runs the Miami Beach Regional Library, lists Thanksgiving weekend as Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-28, on its holiday schedule.

Museum. The Bass, 2100 Collins Ave., is closed on Thanksgiving Day and open its usual noon to 5 p.m. the rest of the weekend. It is closed every Monday and Tuesday. Miami Beach and Surfside residents get in free with proof of residence (305-673-7530).

Pools and schools. The city’s Flamingo Park and Normandy Isle pools stay open with holiday hours. Miami-Dade County Public Schools are closed Thursday and Friday, and the city’s No School Day camp package covers Nov. 23-25.

Police, fire and 911 service run as normal. For anything that is not an emergency, call the Miami Beach Police Department at 305-673-7900.

Trash pickup

The city’s holiday trash collection schedule listed changes for Christmas only when we checked, not Thanksgiving. Homes on city service from 1 Street to 41 Street normally have garbage pickup on Monday and Thursday, so Thanksgiving Day falls on their regular day. If you are unsure, call the Sanitation Division at 305-673-7616 before you put the cart out. Our trash and recycling guide has every pickup day and the bulk pickup rules.

Things to do Thanksgiving week

Wednesday, Nov. 25: free movie. The city’s SoundScape Cinema Series shows Creed at 8 p.m. at SoundScape Park, 400 17th St. Bring a blanket or chairs.

Sunday, Nov. 29: farmers market. The Lincoln Road Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Lincoln Road between Meridian and Washington avenues, rain or shine, with fruit, vegetables and fresh-cut flowers.

Sunday, Nov. 29: free family day at The Bass. The museum’s Free Community Day runs noon to 5 p.m., with free admission and art activities for children and caregivers.

Turkey trots and community dinners

We found no turkey trot in Miami Beach announced for 2026. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida held its Turkey Trot for Wishes 5K in Lummus Park on Ocean Drive on Thanksgiving morning in 2022 and 2023; no later edition has been published. No public community Thanksgiving dinner in Miami Beach had been announced when we checked either. If you organize one that is open to the public, tell us through our contact page and we will add it.
