County Commission District 5

Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez kept her seat, beating Rob Piper by 9,503 votes. County commission races are nonpartisan. District 5 takes in “the South and Mid parts of Miami Beach” along with Brickell, downtown Miami and Little Havana, the county says. The commissioner keeps a Miami Beach office at City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive.

State Senate District 36

The closest race on the city’s ballot was in Senate District 36. Republican Ileana Garcia led Democrat George Lavín by 1,670 votes in Miami-Dade’s count, 50.59% to 49.41%.

When the results are final

All results are “preliminary and unofficial until provisional ballots and cure affidavits are reviewed and the official results are certified by the Canvassing Board,” the county’s results page says.
