Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ spring recess is March 22-26, 2027. Monday, March 29, is a teacher planning day with no students, so families get 10 days in a row from Saturday, March 20, to Monday, March 29. Easter falls on Sunday, March 28, inside that stretch.
Spring break in Miami Beach means two things: a week off school for local children, and a month of college spring break visitors in South Beach, which the city manages with special traffic, parking and beach rules every March.

When is spring break in Miami? 2027 dates
Spring break in Miami falls on different weeks for each school system and university. These are the 2027 dates from each one’s own calendar:

That means college spring break visitors from Miami’s own universities are out in the first half of March, while local families are off in the fourth week, which in 2027 runs into Easter weekend. Visitors from out-of-state colleges arrive across the whole month, which is why Miami Beach treats all of March as a high-impact period (see below).

Camps
The City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department runs a Spring Break Camp from March 22 to 26, 2027, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for children not already enrolled in the city’s after-school programs (camp page). The fee is $136 for residents and $330 for nonresidents.

The city also sells a No School Day package covering every teacher planning day and the Thanksgiving, winter and spring break weeks, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; registration opened in July for residents and August for nonresidents, and space is limited.
Spring break crowds and the March rules
The city treats all of March as a high-impact period. Its 2026 announcement expected the largest crowds on March 12-15 and March 19-22, and set these rules. The 2027 plan will be announced in late winter; expect something similar.
- Every Thursday to Sunday in March: flat rates at the four Art Deco District garages between 5 and 16 streets, higher street parking rates in the area (registered residents kept their $1 hourly rate), double towing rates for nonresidents, and strict enforcement of the district’s regular 8 p.m. closing time for package liquor stores.
- Beach: Ocean Drive beach entrances limited to 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 14 streets, with checkpoints for coolers, glass, inflatables, tents and tables. Amplified music needs a city permit. Alcohol and smoking are always banned on city beaches.
- Neighborhoods: from 6 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, traffic plans protected the South of Fifth, West Avenue and Flamingo Park neighborhoods; Flamingo Park could be reached only from Alton Road.
- Peak weekends: license plate reader details on the eastbound MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways from 10 p.m., DUI checks, Ocean Drive open to cars only from 15 Street with the exit at 5 Street, and rentals of golf carts, slingshots, mopeds and similar vehicles suspended.
The city has also used March to promote fitness events on the sand, such as the Wodapalooza fitness festival in South Beach on March 12-15, 2026.

What is open
Spring recess is not a public holiday. City offices, libraries and city parks keep their normal hours that week. The city’s camps and youth centers are busier than usual, so register early.
