Enrollment

The federal NCES directory counted 893 students in the 2024-25 school year, with 35 full-time-equivalent classroom teachers, a ratio of 25.5 students per teacher. The district’s online directory currently lists 838 students against a capacity of 1,060, or 79% full; it does not give a date for that count.

State report card

Florida grades every public school A to F. The state says school grades “provide an easily understandable way to measure the performance of a school,” in its 2026 school grades overview. A middle school’s grade adds a middle school acceleration measure to test results and learning gains, as the grades file shows.

School year Grade
2025-26 A (65% of possible points)
2024-25 A
2023-24 B

From the 2026 grades file, where achievement is the share of tested students at grade level or above:

  • English language arts achievement: 69%
  • Math achievement: 63%
  • Science achievement: 69%
  • Social studies achievement: 84%
  • Middle school acceleration: 79%

The full report card is on the state’s Florida school report cards site.

Attendance zone

The district’s directory describes the zone as everything from Baker’s Haulover Inlet south to the southern end of Fisher Island, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The directory dates the zone to the 1989-90 school year. Check any address with the district’s Find Your Neighborhood School lookup.

Nautilus sits in the Miami Beach Senior High feeder pattern, according to the district’s directory. The elementary and K-8 schools in that pattern are Biscayne Beach Elementary, Miami Beach Fienberg/Fisher K-8 Center, Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary, North Beach Elementary, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center and Treasure Island Elementary.

Students zoned for a K-8 center are not required to stay there for middle school. The district’s directory says parents who want a traditional middle school “will have the option of enrolling their child in the traditional middle school assigned to serve their neighborhood.”

Programs

The school’s academic programs page lists:

  • International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, in which the school says all teachers have been trained
  • Junior Scholars International, an advanced program for qualified students, gifted and non-gifted
