Miami Beach gets its power from FPL. Report an outage at 1-800-4OUTAGE (468-8243), any time, and check the FPL outage map at fplmaps.com.

Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Facts on this page come from Florida Power & Light, the FPL outage map and the City of Miami Beach hurricane guide and Resident Guide.

Electric service in Miami Beach comes from Florida Power & Light (FPL). The city runs its own water and sewer utility, but not a power company, so outages, downed lines and restoration times are FPL’s to handle. The city’s hurricane guide lists FPL’s outage line for residents.

  2. If your outage is not shown, report it at 1-800-468-8243 or on FPL.com.

Stay safe while the power is out

From the city’s hurricane guide:

  • Downed lines: stay away and do not touch them. Standing water near a line may be live, even if your own power is out.
  • Generators: never run one indoors, on a balcony or near open windows. Carbon monoxide from generators kills people every year. Miami-Dade County has generator safety guidance.
  • Poisoning questions: Florida Poison Control, 1-800-222-1222. The city notes poison control centers get more calls after disasters.
  • Driving: if the signals are dark, treat every intersection as a four-way stop.

Medical needs

If someone in your home depends on electricity for medical equipment, register with Miami-Dade County’s Emergency and Evacuation Assistance Program before a storm. Call 311. The city’s Division of Emergency Management, 305-673-7736, can help with questions.
