Speed tables go in on North Meridian Avenue this week; 71 Street and Indian Creek Drive at Abbott keep FDOT lane closures. Who to call in Miami Beach.

Last checked Nov. 3, 2026. This page is refreshed weekly. Sources: the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six Miami Beach project list, its beaches lane closure list, FDOT’s statewide work zone feed, and the City of Miami Beach capital improvement projects and project updates.

Road work in Miami Beach comes from two owners. FDOT District Six runs the state roads: Collins Avenue and Indian Creek Drive (State Road A1A), Alton Road (State Road 907), 41 Street (State Road 112), 71 Street and Normandy Drive (State Road 934), and the Julia Tuttle Causeway. The city’s Public Works Department and its capital projects office handle city streets, water and sewer lines and flood work, which close lanes too.

Who to call

This week

  • Bayshore neighborhood, North Meridian Avenue between Dade Boulevard and West 28 Street: the city scheduled crews to start installing two speed tables this week, the first phase of its Bayshore traffic calming project. Work runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The city said traffic patterns may change with temporary closures and detours, and temporary parking restrictions will be enforced. Access to homes and sidewalks stays open, according to the city’s Oct. 30 project reminder.
  • 71 Street (State Road 934), Collins Avenue to Bay Drive East: single lane closures in both directions, off-peak, under the FDOT project below. FDOT’s work zone feed lists them through Feb. 20, 2027.
  • Indian Creek Drive at Abbott Avenue (State Road A1A), North Beach: FDOT’s work zone feed lists signal work from Oct. 19 through Jan. 29, 2027. Crews are installing a new steel mast arm at the northwest corner and new signal heads, cable and overhead signs. Expect lane closures on Indian Creek Drive and a closed crosswalk with a pedestrian detour. The feed says the sidewalk on one side stays open and the work zone speed is 30 mph.

The Normandy Drive right lane closure on Normandy Isle has dropped off FDOT’s work zone feed. FDOT District Six’s beaches lane closure list said “There are no lane closures at this time” when we checked Nov. 3.
