The one event already confirmed in Miami Beach is Orchestra Miami’s free New Year’s Eve Celebration on the sand at 21st Street, which ends with city-sponsored fireworks at midnight. The city has not yet published its 2026 New Year’s Eve plan for Ocean Drive, traffic and parking; the 2025 arrangements are below, marked as such, and we will update this page when the 2026 plan is out.

Ocean Drive and the city’s plan in 2025

The City of Miami Beach’s 2025 holiday announcement set out these New Year’s arrangements. Expect something similar in 2026, but check this page in December for the confirmed plan.

  • Fireworks on Ocean Drive: launched from the Lummus Park beachfront at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 31, presented by the city and the Ocean Drive Association.
  • Ocean Drive closed to cars from Dec. 24 through Jan. 11, with more than 30 restaurants extending outdoor seating.
  • Free trolley ran from 8 a.m. Dec. 31 until 2 a.m. Jan. 1.
  • Free shuttles ran every 20 minutes or so from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. from stops near six garages (42 Street, 23 Street, 17 Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, City Hall and 5 Street) to Washington Avenue between 11 and 12 streets.
  • Flat garage fee at the four South Beach garages at 7 Street and Collins Avenue, 12 Street and Washington Avenue, 13 Street and Collins Avenue and 16 Street and Collins Avenue from Dec. 24 to Jan. 18, with a half-price rate for residents paying through ParkMobile.

New Year’s Day

In 2025 the city’s OnStage! program held a free New Year’s Day concert in Lummus Park at 12 Street and Ocean Drive, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 1, with singers from the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival youth program. New Year’s Day was a normal garbage pickup day, and City Hall was closed. Libraries in the Miami-Dade system are closed on New Year’s Day (library holiday schedule).

Restaurants

We list New Year’s Eve dinners only when a Miami Beach restaurant announces one on its own website. None had been published when we checked. For year-round ideas, see date night in Miami Beach.
